Gallilee

This weekend we planned a trip to the snow in the mountains to celebrate Sarai's coming 17th birthday at Feb 15th. Michal had leave from Naval Academy, so we moved the celebration a few days earlier. The weather forcast was cold (6-14 Celcius), but in reality it was a beautiful sunny day. No snow to be found unless very high on Mount Hermon's tops. So we opted for the waterfalls instead.

On the way to the River Jordan we passed the church  Domus Galilaeae  at the shores of Lake Kinneret, the Sea of Gallilee and decided to visit.

Domus Galilaeae or House of Galilee (Hebrew: בית הגליל‎), located on the peak of Mount of Beatitudes, above and north of Capernaum and the Sea of Galilee, is a modern Christian meeting place, primarily used for Christian seminars and conventions. Run by the Catholic organisation Neocatechumenal Way, Domus Galilaeae employs about 150 persons full time. The building was constructed in a short period of time with the first stone being laid in January 1999 and the opening of the site taking place in 2000. It was inaugurated by the Pope John Paul II in his Millennium visit to the Holy Land. The library was constructed in 2005.

After the church, we had a sandwich at the shores of the river Jordan.

On the way back home we had a meal at the kids favorite restaurant Junis, the usual fallafel, pittabread, humus and chips.

What a day!

Loved your post. We were in Israel a few years ago. WONDERFUL trip, in fact, due to a mix-up in hotel reservations, our group spent the night in a kibbutz. We had the most incredible food of the trip. You have brought back so many memories today. Thank you.

Have a God Filled Day
